Idhar Udhar Exclusive: How Petroleum ministry is playing into the hands of Ambani

Petroleum Ministry is under some serious questions after they ensured Reliance Industries Ltd. regarding the rise in gas prices. From this, the defect in the procedure of taking decision has been revealed.

The most stunning and surprising fact is that Reliance Industries was told that gas price will be increased from 1st July without even briefing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The working method of  Petroleum ministry is not a hidden thing. The functioning of ministry is very mysterious and it doesn't reflects transparency anywhere. But, ministry has given information regarding the price rise to Reliance before Prime Minister give green signal to it is very surprising as well as shocking.

According to the senior official of ministry, The proposal of increase in gas price will be presented in front of PM next week. This was certain that new prices of gas will be notified only after the approval of Modi. But  Petroleum  ministry has started playing into the hands of corporates after taking steps in  this matter on their own behalf.

This is even more surprising that law minister Ravishankar Prasad had constantly said that BJP will review the gas prices only after the proposals made by the standing committee of parliament led by Yashwant Sinha. But BJP has totally forgotten their promise and now heading towards  to notify the new gas prices under the pressure of corporates. Undoubtedly, new gas prices will be applicable to the other oil companies as well but the lack of transparency has stunned everyone.

The senior officer of ministry has told that the price of everything associated with gas will also be increased with the rise in the gas price. Petroleum  Natural Gas(PNG) will also become costlier. The farmers will have to bear extra cost for fertilizer. The cost of industries will also be increased as they will have to purchase the expensive gas for manufacturing and production. Obviously, industries will charge this increase in cost from the consumer only. So, it is now certain the consumer will have to pay more to purchase essential commodities. Thus, officers will have to take the consideration of all these things before rising gas prices.
