Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody extends till 6th June

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has been sent to Tihar Jail after he refused furnishing a bail bond in a defamation complaint filed against him by former BJP president Nitin Gadkari.

Kejriwal's judicial custody has been extended till 6th June as he again denied to pay a personal bond.

"This is my principle that when I have not done anything wrong, I will not seek bail. I am ready to go to jail," Kejriwal said.

AAP leader and advocates Prashant Bhushan and Rahul Mehra, who appeared for Kejriwal, told the magistrate that these cases are of political nature and as per the principle of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), they are not going to furnish bail bond.

Gadkari had filed defamation case against kejriwal after AAP alleged Gadkari's company Purti indulge in corrupt functioning. Former BJP president, who got elected from Nagpur in recently concluded lok sabha polls, had earlier refused all such corruption charges.

AAP secured 34% votes share in lok sabha polls which is 5% more than assembly polls but party failed to open an account in Delhi.Kejriwal's move to refuse furnishing a bail bond could be a well planned strategy to gain sympathy in the upcoming assembly polls of Delhi.
