BJPs  Sardhana MLA Sangeet Som, an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots last year, was caught on camera issuing an open threat to police officers in Kurthal village in association with the alleged murders of two cousins.

Mr Som reached the village on Saturday to meet the family of the two cousins who were allegedly killed on Friday night. While the body of one of them was found in a nearby forest, the other had been deserted in the village well.

In the video, the BJP MLA is seen telling the local Station House Officer that if the case is not sorted out  soon, he is able to create a major ruckus.

One person has been detained in link with the murders and is being questioned.

Som was charged under the stringent National Security Act after communal riots took place in Muzaffarnagar, killing over 60 and displacing nearly 40,000. He has been booked with spreading a false video on social media that triggered tension before the riots.

Union minister of State for Agriculture Sanjeev Baliyan, who is also the local MP, is also expected to reach the village shortly.
